The first free PlayStation Plus game of 2025 has been announced. PlayStation fans can look forward to titles like Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Ghost of Yotei in 2025. Additionally, Marvel’s Wolverine, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Fairgame$ may also release that year, along with the highly anticipated GTA 6. With so many big releases, 2025 is shaping up to be an expensive year for PS5 gamers. Although PlayStation Plus requires a subscription, it offers savings on a variety of games. However, those savings are less beneficial if you typically buy games at launch, as day-one releases on PlayStation Plus are rare compared to Xbox Game Pass.
That said, the first PlayStation Plus game for 2025 will be a day-one release. PS5 owners subscribed to PS Plus Extra or Premium will be able to play FBC: Firebreak at no extra cost when it launches in 2025. Unfortunately, it won’t be available for PS Plus Essential users, and it’s unclear how long the game will remain on PS Plus Extra and Premium, as it's a limited-time addition.
For those unfamiliar, FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative first-person shooter and a spin-off of Control, developed by Remedy Entertainment, creators of Control and Alan Wake. The game is set in a federal agency under siege by otherworldly forces, and players join Firebreak, the agency's most versatile unit, to restore order and combat the strange crises engulfing the headquarters.
